FROM THE SECRETARIAT
After a hectic late November / December,
the new year begins on a fairly quiet
note here in Bangkok (fortunately) and
apparently elsewhere around the Indian
Ocean and South-East Asia, judging from
the reduced e-mail traffic over the last
few weeks.
Just a brief mention of a few things to
watch for in the coming weeks:
The
Coordinator will be attending a Technical
Workshop on Minimizing Sea Turtle Interactions
in Coastal Net Fisheries, in Honolulu,
later this month; as well as the 29th
Symposium on Sea Turtle Biology &
Conservation (ISTS) in Brisbane in mid-February,
where he will make a presention during
one of the plenary sessions.
Plans to organise a Strategic Planning
Session for IOSEA over two days just prior
to the ISTS are progressing well (13-14
February, by invitation). This is a reminder
to invited participants to send their
requested feedback as soon as possible.
As always we look forward to receiving
your feature articles, longer profiles
and other news to share with others working
on turtle conservation around the region.
If you haven't used the Search Facility
or visited the IOSEA Archive lately, give
them a try. You'll be surprised at the
wealth of information they contain. ....
Happy New Year!
