Turtles prior to releaseFour rehabilitated green turtles released by 'te mana o te moana'

On August 30th, the non-profit French Polynesian organization, te mana o te moana, released four green sea turtles that spent a few months rehabilitating in its turtle clinic. The Minister of Sustainable Development of French Polynesia, George Anderson, was present for the event, along with Mareva George, Miss Tahiti and Miss France.

ProFauna LogoIndonesian NGO voices concern over illegal turtle trade

ProFauna, a non-governmental organization working in Indonesia for the protection of wild animals and their habitat, has released a petition to stop the illegal trade of sea turtle eggs in Sukabumi, Indonesia.

According to the ProFauna petition, despite Indonesian laws to protect sea turtles, local Sukabumi authorities continue to support the sale of turtle eggs for revenue. More »

The NEPAD Coastal and Marine (COSMAR) Secretariat in Nairobi recently released the 7th edition of its newsletter, COSMAR News. The newsletter highlights topical issues in Africa's coastal and marine environment sector and provides a platform for policy dialogue to move forward the goals of poverty alleviation through sustainable utilization and management of Africa's rich coastal and marine resources.
