Whereas there is considerable information available on tag numbers used in the Atlantic and Pacific Ocean basins, through the ACCSTR (Archie Carr Center for Sea Turtle Research) Sea Turtle Tag Inventory, the coverage of the IOSEA region has, until now, been relatively poor.

The folllowing table has been prepared in the interest of preventing duplication of tag numbers, as well as standardising flipper tag codes used throughout the Indian Ocean – South-East Asia region.

Anyone who is currently tagging turtles in any of the 40+ IOSEA States, as part of a government or private/NGO-run programme, or who has accurate information on tag series that have been used in the past, is encouraged to provide the relevant details for inclusion in the table.

Please use the Feedback form or send a note to the IOSEA Secretariat containing as much of the information as possible, including any corrections. Partial entries are also welcome, as they may prompt others to provide the missing details.
