Welcome to the IOSEA Marine Turtle MoU Genetics Directory (beta version). This facility is meant to provide basic information on researchers working on sea turtle genetics around the Indian Ocean and South-East Asia. It was developed in May 2008, as a follow-up to suggestions arising from informal gatherings at recent International Sea Turtle Symposia.
When the database has yet to be populated, it will provide an overview of who is doing genetics work around the region, what their primary interests are, and how to contact them for more specific information.
We hope that genetists -- as well as others collecting samples and using the results of genetics research for the benefit of turtle conservation -- will take advantage of this facility by including their details in the directory.
The Genetics Directory has two components:
Viewer
The Viewer enables the user to examine all of the entries in the database with great flexibility. Entries can be sorted by COUNTRY, NAME, STARTING DATE or DATE UPDATED.
The directory can also be searched manually. A list of suggested keywords will eventually be provided for this purpose. The search results can be downloaded to an MS-Excel spreadsheet, for further manipulation or printing.
Depending on the users' preference, a two-line project summary can be switched on or off within the viewer, in order to make the display more readable.
Editor
The Editor allows the user to submit information on a particular genetics programme. The information will be transmitted to the IOSEA MoU Secretariat for follow-up with the author and any necessary editing, in order to assure consistency. Please read these instructions before getting started.
