Jumeirah invites public to watch annual summer turtle release 26 Jun 2012

Jumeirah invites the public to watch six satellite tagged sea turtles and over 100 rehabilitated hawksbill turtles released back into the ocean at Madinat Jumeirah.

On Friday 29th June 2012, the Dubai Turtle Rehabilitation Project (DTRP) will host its annual summer turtle release which will be open to the public for the first time.

At the event, which is hosted by Kris Fade from Virgin Radio, over 100 Hawksbill Turtles will be released by children back into their natural habitat following several months of rehabilitation at Burj Al Arab and Madinat Jumeirah.

The Big Jumeirah Sea Turtle Race will also take place at the event where six satellite tagged sea turtles are released back into the Arabian Gulf. Each tagged turtle is sponsored by a Jumeirah property – Jumeirah Beach Hotel, Madinat Jumeirah, Jumeirah Zabeel Saray, Wild Wadi, Jumeirah Living and Burj Al Arab. Using satellite technology to track their location, the turtle that travels the farthest will be announced the winner in October 2012.

The event is free to the public and takes place at Madinat Jumeirah on Friday 29th June from 8.30am. Children’s entertainment and refreshments will be available as well as parking at Mina A Salam.
