Sarina Landcare Catchment Management Association is inviting all members of the community interested in taking care of the region's beaches to celebrate Coastcare Week with a free bus tour.
The tour, which will be held on Wednesday, December 5, will visit four of Sarina's best coastal rehabilitation sites and showcase the ongoing work and commitment of the Sarina community to protect the region's beaches.
A Sarina Landcare Catchment Management Association (SLCMA) spokesperson said the tour would be a great opportunity to see the diversity of projects in progress as well as listen to a range of environmental care discussions.
Discussions will include topics such as protecting marine turtles, tackling illegal motorbike use on beaches and coastal rehabilitation works in progress.
The Mackay-Sarina region is a mecca for nesting sea turtles, with five of Australia's six sea turtle species found in the area, including the vulnerable flatback turtle.
The event will end with a free lunch at Sarina Beach.
To register your interest in attending and for more information phone the SLCMA on 4956 1388 by December 3.
