By Patcharapol Panrak

More than 130 students from nine Southeast Asian countries released nine turtles into the wild as the Royal Thai Navy played host to the visiting ASEAN Youth Camp.

Cmdr. Narith Pichitlothorn welcomed 132 kids from countries consisting of Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam to the Sea Turtles Conservation Center in Sattahip Jan. 31.

Vilaijit Nilsawat, director of Phranakhorn Rajabhta University’s Language and ASEAN Center, said the youths were visiting Thailand from Jan. 27-31 as part of a mission to increase relationships between Association of Southeast Nations countries.

Narith said the trip to the turtle center helped to instill awareness in youths about nature.
