Sri Lanka: Albino turtle dies at zoo 21 Jan 2014

One of the albino turtles which was taken to the Dehiwala Zoological Gardens has died due to an unknown illness.

Reports said that the two month old sea turtle had been suffering due the illness for two days and had not taken any food. None of the officials at the Zoo were available for comment

The earlier owners of the albino turtles when contacted said they were unaware of the death and said the turtle was not sick when it was in Kosgoda.

The Balapitiya Magistrate’s Court last week ordered that four albino turtles kept at a turtle hatchery in Kosgoda be handed over to the Dehiwala Zoo.
