The Australian Bid Organising Committee (BOC) is thrilled to announce that the Australian nomination to host the 2009 International Symposium on Sea Turtle Conservation & Biology with Dr Colin Limpus of the Queensland Environmental Protection Agency as President has just been approved by the ISTS Board of Directors and the ISTS Nominations Committee. This approval by the ISTS Board of Directors is the penultimate step towards Australia being officially selected as the host nation and Dr Col Limpus as President for 2009.
THE FINAL STEP
At the 27th Annual General Meeting of the ISTS, to be held on 27 February 2007, the ISTS Nominations Committee will present the nomination of Dr Colin Limpus as President for 2009 for approval of general membership of the ISTS. If the general membership vote in favour of the nomination then the ISTS symposium will be headed to Australia for the first time.
The Australian Bid Organising Committee would again like to pass on a very big thank you to all our supporters and particularly those who contributed letters of support for the bid. Our proposal document was praised for its professionalism and content, and your letters were part of this. We are confident that the general membership will vote to bring the symposium down under and we will keep each of you informed of the outcome.
We hope you are all as excited as we are.
Kindest regards, The Australian Bid Organising Committee 2009 International Symposium on Sea Turtle Conservation & Biology
